Our Featured Floor Plan – The Barlow
Allow us to introduce The Barlow. It has 4,992 square feet of living space, with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and a 3-car garage. Like most of the plans we offer, The Barlow is a classically designed home, evoking an unusual level of grace and sophistication. The first floor is designed to fit today’s families, featuring everything you need for daily life – a large open living area, a huge mud room, plenty of storage, and flexible rooms that can adapt to your needs.
The Barlow features a stately front porch, which leads into a dramatic 2-story foyer highlighted by a sweeping central staircase. Just beyond the foyer, the combined great room/breakfast room/kitchen is the heart of the home. The gorgeous kitchen is the focal point, featuring white, Shaker-style cabinets, stainless steel, gourmet-style appliances, and a large center island with seating. The adjacent formal dining room is ideal for holidays and celebrations. The study is just off the great room, and offers a peaceful space to work or relax, while the living room adjacent to the foyer is perfect for entertaining guests. There is also a mud room with benches, cubbies & closets.
Upstairs, the elegant master suite includes an extensive walk-in closet, and a l
uxurious bath with a shower and freestanding tub, marble tiles, and a double vanity. The additional bedrooms and baths are spacious and comfortable, with generous closet space. The second floor is also home to the laundry room, and may also include a large bonus room above the garage – the perfect spot for a game room, media room, fitness room or play room. A finished basement is another option for this spacious home as well. The Barlow also has dozens of stunning Calvosa details that make it unique, like white oak floors, 9-foot ceilings, a gas fireplace, vaulted ceilings, deluxe molding and trim, and a brick façade with elegant moldings.

12 Ways to get your home sold faster!
When families come to us here at The Calvosa Organization, they want to build their new dream home. But most of the time, they need to sell their existing home. For our experts, that’s no problem. We offer advice and support for choosing the right realtor, and Vince Calvosa himself will even go look at a potential home buyers current residence to make suggestions on how they may be able to sell it quicker. We find it helps having a true expert on your side with the market experience that can give you insight you need.
Though real estate markets vary drastically depending on where you live, there are some basic tips that will show your home at its best – and get it sold faster!
- Take a step back. Go outside and look at your house the way a stranger would. Walk up the driveway and front
path. Open your front door. Does the house welcome you? Imagine how it will look to a buyer.
- Curb appeal is key. A buyer’s first impression of your home comes the second they pull up to the house. Keep the sidewalks cleared, and the lawn mown. Spruce up the mailbox, siding and window trim. Plant seasonal flowers. Trim the shrubs. Make sure visitors can clearly read the house number.
- Make minor repairs. Replace cracked tiles. Patch holes in the walls. Fix leaky faucets. Fix doors that don’t close properly and drawers that stick. Replace burned-out light bulbs. And give everything a fresh coat of paint. Stick to neutral colors.
- De-personalize. You have stuff. Potential buyers don’t need to see it. Think of your home as a model home. All visitors need to see is uncluttered surfaces, empty closets and neat rooms.
- Less is more. Homes show better with less. Remove furniture that blocks views, paths or walkways. Remove extra leaves from the dining room table. Leave just enough furniture in each room to showcase the room’s purpose.
- Organize & de-clutter. Do you want people to see your messy coat closet or that over-stuffed kitchen cabinet? No, you want them to see neat, organized spaces with plenty of room to store things in!
- Let the sun shine in. Raise the shades. Open the curtains. Wash the windows. Turn on the lamps. Rooms that are bright seem larger and more inviting than those that are dark.
- Take a deep breath. It’s very common for people to be unaware of smells in their own homes. (Tobacco, pets, mustiness, cooking odors.) Open the windows, and thoroughly clean rugs, floors and walls. Put out fresh flowers. Bake bread or cookies.
- Clean the house – top to bottom!
- Rent a pressure washer and spray down sidewalks and exterior.
- Clean out cobwebs.
- Polish faucets and mirrors.
- Wash & wax floors.
- Dust furniture, ceiling fan blades and light fixtures.
- Bleach dingy grout.
- Hang up fresh towels.
- Send pets and children away. If prospective buyers are coming to have a look, you don’t want them to be intimidated by your dog or distracted by your children.
- Price it right. Don’t price your home too high. A higher price will only discourage potential buyers, and leave your home on the market longer.
- Picture perfect. Make sure your listing has lots of good photos. Photos go a long way to enticing prospects to come visit your home in person.

The Calderaro Family LOVES Vince – and their new Calvosa home!
Hurricane Sandy caused so much physical – and emotional – damage when it struck in October 2012. Families up and down the Atlantic coast have spent years trying to get their lives back in order. For many of them, rebuilding their homes – not just repairing them – was necessary. One of those families was The Calderaro’s from Amity Harbor. Their home was destroyed by almost 4 feet of water, and they chose Vince Calvosa and The Calvosa Organization to rebuild their home.
“After our home was destroyed, we had to quickly decide how we were going to rebuild,” recall Carmine and Theresa Calderaro. “While we weren’t mentally ready to embark on the home building journey, we knew we needed to find the best contractor for the job. We met with other builders before choosing The Calvosa Organization, and we can honestly say that from our first meeting with Vince, we were thoroughly impressed. We knew right away that he was the best out there.
“Vince is everything you can ask for in a custom homebuilder. He worked closely with us to turn our ideas and dreams into reality. He took care of us every step of the way, from the initial proposal to handling the permit process with the town, even navigating through the guidelines with the NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program.
“Vince was extremely understanding and flexible throughout the whole process, and always looked out for our best interest. And the professionalism and quality of the Calvosa crew are not to be underestimated. They are the best of the best! We always felt that everyone working on our home genuinely cared about it, and how it would ultimately turn out.
“We feel blessed that we not only have a gorgeous home that will stand the test of time, but that the whole process was so seamless. We take just as much pride – if not more – in what’s behind the walls as what’s on top.
“The Calvosa Organization exceeded our expectations tenfold,” say Carmine and Theresa. “And we highly recommend them to anyone considering building a new custom home.”
The History of The Calvosa Organization

As our president, Vincent Calvosa leads The Calvosa Organization’s commitment to superior design, construction and customer service. His impressive reputation for quality, value and experience has been formed over more than two decades, and is a testament to the exceptional building practices we espouse here at The Calvosa Organization.
Vincent Calvosa began his love affair with building at the age of 12 when he helped a builder as a summer job, and soon discovered the excitement of crafting things with his hands. He connected to the joy of seeing his labor take shape through the use of old-world skills that had been passed down from worker to worker, generation to generation. For Vincent, building was as natural as breathing. By the time he was 18, his summer job had turned into a supervisory job, and he had his first crew to run. His passion for building new homes was firmly rooted, and continues to make him happy. All these years later, his impeccable reputation speaks for itself, and his company continues to expand upon its impressive track record of performance.
The quality of The Calvosa Organization team is built upon years of relationships. On our job sites, it is not unusual to see Master Craftsmen with 30 years or more of experience, and tradesmen with extraordinary skills, working together with insight, harmo
ny and passion. We have assembled an outstanding team of professionals. Our dedicated and committed in-house staff, along with professional engineers, architects, land planners and craftsmen, ensure that our homes and neighborhoods maintain the tradition of exceptional quality and service we’re known for. The Long Island Builders Institute has named us “Builder of the Year” in its Luxury Custom Home Building category for many years, and has awarded us their “Beam Award”, which recognizes the organization that uses the finest associates and trades for building their homes.
